I did not post on January 1 of the new year because we were spending the time just enjoying LIFE! Went to Columbus to see the Dale Chihuly glass exhibit and if you read my Facebook entry you would know that it was really great. A wonderful time and we topped off the evening by seeing The Princess and the Frog. It’s a new year, a new LIFE and time to create new memories.
Started today as usual opening up my Google home page (iGoogle) and reading the following quotation: “Human salvation lies in the hands of the creatively maladjusted.” by Martin Luther King, Jr. I really liked the statement however I am never sure about these things so I “Googled” it (the quotation) and found many other references to the same quote. Now I judge that Martin Luther King, Jr. did say this and I really liked the statement. I consider myself, on occasion, creatively maladjusted.
While on my front page I also have the Buddhist Thought of the Day of the day and here I found this one: “What do you have to do? Pack your bags, Go to the station without them, Catch the train, And leave your self behind.” from Open Secret by Wei Wu Wei. Once again I followed this up and discovered a Spiritual Teachings page which led me to further reading and a quote by Mark Twain: “The rule is perfect: in all matters of opinion our adversaries are insane. When I look around me, I am often troubled to see how many people are mad.” This really got me going so back to Google and read much more about Mark Twain. The paragraph preceding this quote really hits home with me; “All Democrats are insane, but not one of them knows it; none but the Republicans and Mugwumps know it. All the Republicans are insane, but only the Democrats and Mugwumps can perceive it.” He applies this to religion as well. I will have to read more Mark Twain to become more enlightened.
All of this led me to Wikipedia and more about quotes by Mark Twain of which the following one hit me just right; “The only reason why God created man is because he was disappointed with the monkey.” This was credited to Autobiographical Dictation (1906).
Once at Wikipedia I followed up looking at events on January 2nd in history and found that in 1860 – The discovery of the planet Vulcan is announced at a meeting of the Académie des Sciences in Paris. I guess my next search will be on Spock, ah only time will tell that what we once thought of as fiction will become non-fiction.
Life is great, look at all the learning that can occur for fun on a computer. I hate to say it but it beats reading the newspaper.
OK we are off into a new year and it is my plan to be better at posting here however as you can read from the above it will not always be about tech. Life is about many things and when I feel the need I will write about many things. HAPPY NEW YEAR & may it be a blessed one!
