And I am enjoying it way too much. As I have said in the past I enjoy my HP Mini but I have to admit there is a fascination with the Droid. I picked one up on Saturday (birthday present from my wife) and Scott at the Verizon store on Colerain in the Cincinnati area could not have been any better at showing me around the controls. It was a really great experience as Scott and Amy made the upgrade a very fun time. It is always great to be treated well. My experience in retail (a love of my life) has proved that it is not always easy to find great people that can treat the customer well – Verizon succeeded here.
Back to the Droid; the Droid does come with a small (very small) booklet however it is enough to get you started. There are web sites at both Verizon and at Motorola that are very helpful with their videos. You can also find a great deal of video’s on YouTube as well, just search for Motorola Droid.
Scott passed along some great insights and I left with my wife driving and me playing with the Droid. Down the highway we go and I am following on Google maps – so good. Amy added my Gmail account for me and now I find that reading it on the Droid is really easy – the screen is fantastic. As with everyone else I do think it is easier to use the on-screen keyboard than the Qwerty slide out. It is difficult to distinguish between the keys with a light touch. I find myself being slowed down and typing with one finger rather than thumbs however that is the only problem I have found.
I have downloaded the NY Times app and use that as well as AccuWeather, Places, and other app’s but I am just starting. I have surfed the web and was really pleased with the ability to zoom in and have had not trouble reading stories on the NY Times as well as CNN.
SO – Yes it is a neat phone and yes I am enjoying it. I have had a few days vacation to get to play with it and I know there is more to learn.
